Brothers Chris and Mike Wilkes of Malthouse Produce near Kidderminster have been awarded the first ever Stallholder of the Year Award, sponsored by Zapp, from the National Farmers’ Retail and Markets’ Association (FARMA).

The announcement was made at the FARMA Awards’ ceremony in January, as part of the farm diversification event, FARM & MORE 2011.

Malthouse Produce attend farmers’ markets across the West Midlands every weekend and often during the week, including Banbury Farmers’ Market run by the Thames Valley Farmers’ Market Co-operative, as well as those at Moseley and King’s Norton, and at Hereford farmers’ markets.

The judges praised Malthouse Produce for the stand’s always colourful and professional display of own grown, field-fresh, seasonal vegetables, and the stallholders’ exemplary customer service skills. The company has also shown huge support of the farmers’ market movement and striven to keep standards high and prices competitive.
